‘True Colours’ is an in-game voip only, team PVP event where players organically meet and form groups as they move around the map. To win, you’ll need to survive and be the last team or individual standing after playing across different areas within Chernarus. If you die, you are out.
Weapons are Vanilla but we have a custom loot spawn table tailored for this event so you will find more guns and in locations you’re not expecting (Tundras in Barns, VSS in Military areas for example).
6 teams of 8 players will be drawn randomly before the event and players will be informed which team colour they will be representing via a Discord DM. Players will not know who is on their team in advance. Please make sure you have joined the HappyBombs Community Discord prior to the event.
Players will spawn in at random locations along the coast as soon as the server opens shortly before the event begins.
- 2x Cans of Rasputin Kvass
- 2x Cans of Tactical Bacon
- 1x Stone Knife
- 4x Rags
- 1x Compass
- 1x Custom Team coloured armband
- 1x Custom Team coloured Dry Bag
All of these items will be automatically spawned on to the teams when they join the server based on their Steam ID.
Players will start with their food, hydration, blood and health vitals all at 100% so you do not need to worry about starving to death before the event has even begun.
Team colours are blue, green, pink, yellow, red and purple.
Players must wear their team Dry bag and armband combo until the bitter end. Do not swap backpacks – you can carry another alternative backpack in your hands should you want but that is super risky. Maybe you could take it in turns to be the pack mule for the team and carry ammo and supplies!?
Players will not have prior knowledge of who is on their team and will have to find them as they make their way to the play areas.
DO NOT SWAP COLOURS DURING THE EVENT!
If an admin sees you have changed to another team’s colour, you will be disqualified. If your backpack gets ruined, do not take it off as you will not be able to wear it again.
If for some reason you take a ruined backpack off accidentally, type in game that you need admin help and they will come and assist you as soon as they can. Make the mistake twice and you’ll be disqualified.
DON’T START LOOTING BEFORE THE EVENT OFFICIALLY BEGINS! WAIT FOR THE SERVER MESSAGE.
WHERE YOU NEED TO BE AND BY WHEN
Players should log in from 2.45pm BST with the event starting at 3pm BST. If you are outside of the UK, please check your time zones to ensure you are there on time!
An event server password will be put into the Discord channel here at 2.30pm for the players taking part so you can make sure you have all the necessary mods loaded before it starts. It is advisable to be subscribed to the following mods on the DayZ Steam Workshop before event day so only potential updates are required to download:
- HappyBombs TrueColors
- Queue Connect Fix
A server message will inform all players that the event has started at 3pm – please wait for this before starting your loot run.
Each event is split across specific play areas at 3 specific times:
4.30pm – 4.45pm BST
TBC (TEAMS RED, BLUE & PURPLE)
Pistols only (Smoke Grenades & Flash bangs permitted)
TBC (TEAMS YELLOW, GREEN & PINK)
Pistols only (Smoke Grenades & Flash Bangs permitted)
5.45pm – 6pm BST
TBC (ALL TEAMS)
All weapons and grenades
7pm BST – Last Team Standing
TBC MILITARY (ALL TEAMS)
All weapons and grenades
Players need to be in the above play zones during those times and within the play areas marked. Look for the edges of the play areas as indicated by these concrete barriers in-game:
Admins will be checking that you are in these play areas and will ask you to move should you not be in the right place.
The routes from the coast have all been checked and there’s plenty of time to make it to both of the first zone locations within 90 mins.
You can loot wherever you want in between the above times and following the first pistol phase, all guns are allowed to be used so be careful leaving the town.
You may use any means necessary to deal with the zombies, just don’t kill any players before the first PVP phase starts.
A siren will be broadcast across the town once the phase starts and will also be played after the phase ends. There will also be a 5 minute warning message played before it all kicks off!
RULES OF PLAY
The first 90 mins of play before phase 1 starts has a no player kill rule.
Server messages will be displayed during the event giving players an update on how much time is left before the phases start – keep an eye on these.
Groups will naturally start to form across the map when players bump into others with the same backpacks and armbands.
Players do not have to team up as they may want to loot and fight on their own but they will be safer in numbers.
Do not use a lockpick to contain players in a building. This could take teams out of the game and wouldn’t be in the spirit of things.
Do not use TeamSpeak, Discord, etc, for voice comms. In-game voice chat is the only thing permitted to make it more immersive.
Once you die, you will be required to leave the server. Well played, survivor.
When one player / team remains, a server message will declare the event over.
If HappyBombs dies, he will live spectate the rest of the event on his Twitch stream so make sure you tune in to see how the event concludes! Its really cool to watch it all unfold (examples below). We also have 2 other people shoutcasting the event live on Twitch (details below) showing different angles.
EVENT KILL FEED
A kill feed will be published here after the event:
ADMINS / CAMERAMEN
PLEASE NOTE: Admins and event cameramen may be in the play areas to help keep an eye on the proceedings. Admins will be wearing red camo and red berets with ADMIN written on the backs of their jackets. Cameramen will be all in black with no backpack or armband. Just ignore them and let them do their thing!
Event Admins: MAMEniac, Micropitt2 & Shropshire.
Event Shoutcasters: TBC.
PLEASE DON’T DRESS UP IN EITHER OF THESE OUTFITS!
THINGS TO DO BEFORE THE EVENT
Before joining the server on the day, players should change their names to [COLOUR] [Twitch Name] in the DAYZSALAUNCHER settings – so for example: [RED] HappyBombs
This is important so we know who is who and so we can spectate the teams accurately.
Secondly, please have your GAME and ADMIN MESSAGES turned on so you can see event messages throughout the day. Turn off PLAYER MESSAGES.
And finally, as mentioned above – It is advisable to be subscribed to the following mods on the DayZ Steam Workshop before event day so only potential updates are required to download:
- HappyBombs TrueColors
- Queue Connect Fix
SIGN UP TO PLAY
REGISTRATION IS CLOSED!
If you want to sign up to play in the next event, please wait for announcements on Twitter and Discord.
All 48 places will be open on a first come, first served basis. Once full, there will be a reserves list put in place. A Discord DM will be sent to you if a place becomes available. Make sure you have joined HappyBombs’ Discord.
Don’t worry too much if you’re on the reserves list – we always have people dropping out closer to event day.
Please make sure you can make both the date and the time. Anyone outside of the UK, please check your time zone and make sure you know when it starts. By entering, you are confirming that you have read the above and understand the rules.
